A beautiful new apartment complex is officially complete on the southeast side of the property. Because of all the buzz surrounding the area, many local residents are under the impression that this new building is the highly anticipated veterans' nursing home.

However, that is not the case!

Here is the true breakdown of what is happening on this prime piece of local real estate.

1. Completed Apartments: Workforce Housing, Not the VA Home

The newly finished apartment buildings on the southeast side are actually part of a multi-phase workforce housing development known as Renaissance Hall at Old Course.

To make this community benefit possible, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners originally purchased the massive 167-acre golf course parcel for $29.1 million. The newly completed first phase features nine apartment buildings (252 units) specifically designed to provide affordable rental housing for our essential local workforce—like teachers, nurses, and law enforcement officers.

2. The Buffer Zone: Clubhouse, Driving Range, and a New 9-Hole Course

So, how does the layout look? To help you picture it, the central portion of the property acts as a sprawling recreation buffer. While the original golf course used to have 18 holes, it has been completely reimagined as The Gate Golf Club [The Gate Golf Club Officially Breaks Ground on Community Golf Course in Golden Gate]—a modern public facility featuring a premium 9-hole course, an 18-hole putting green, and a high-tech driving range.

These sports amenities and the main clubhouse sit directly in the middle, perfectly positioned between the new apartment complex on the southeast end and the upcoming veterans' home on the other side. 3. The Real State Veterans' Nursing Home: Ground Just Broke!

The actual veterans' facility is a completely separate project located on a different 23.5-acre slice of that same golf course land.

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs and county leaders officially held the groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Collier County State Veterans' Nursing Home.

Because this massive $125 million, 120-bed skilled nursing and adult day health care campus is just starting construction, it is projected to open in late 2028.
